Daiquiri cocktail with rum
Our Ernest Daiquiri is made with rum, fresh lime juice, and sugar, and includes a lime garnish.
Each 25cl pouch contains 3-4 serves of Ernest's Daiquiri, 20% ABV (approx).
The classic daiquiri – white rum, fresh lime juice and sugar – likely originated in Cuba at the turn of the 1900s.
An American engineer hosting a cocktail party had run out of gin for his punch, so instead added white rum, of which there was no shortage.
“What is this delicious drink?” his delighted guests wanted to know. Stumped for anything better, he named it for a nearby beach, the Daiquiri.
Its popularity exploded during Prohibition, when American tourists and drinkers would flock to Cuba to drink alcohol.
Undoubtedly, most famous among these Americans was writer (and drinker) Ernest Hemmingway.
So legendary were the days he spent drinking double daiquiris in the Florida Bar, that barmen honoured him with his own namesake cocktail.
Whether you prefer a strawberry daiquiri, frozen daiquiri, or even virgin daiquiri, it’s always punchy and refreshing, and tastes more than a little of Cuba.
